About

new-guys-bwOur Music. We specialize in 1950s “doo wop” a cappella, mixed in with some contemporary favorites and a handful of humorous picks. Our set list is always a little fluid, changing when members graduate and alumni join in, but we maintain a repertoire of doo wop staples as we try new things.

Our Singers. Most of our music is harmonized by ear, an unusual approach that has served the group well from the beginning, and contributes to its thick-textured sound.  Vocal parts are adapted and swapped, so there is no set group of performers.  We draw from a committed group of current high school students and some alumni.  Occasionally, the “original” Aces are available for special appearances, but these are rare.

original-acesOur Beginnings. Four students at East High School put together a few songs for a school concert, donning fedoras and cheesy grins.  When they put out a hat and sang for tips at Corning’s summer arts festival, local business-owner Tom Mancuso volunteered to help them find better gigs.  Tom has volunteered his efforts ever since.
