Add an event to the Event Calendar / Upcoming Gigs list. The Upcoming Gigs list will show the next 10 gigs, automatically removing events once their date passes. Clicking on the name of a gig brings up the article describing it. (These articles are not normally shown on the main page.)

  1. Log in to http://aces.danallan.com/wp-admin
  2. Go to Posts > Add New.
  3. Enter a title and a short article as a description.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page, to the heading Event Editor.
  5. Click the + button to add an event.  Enter the event’s date and time.  Checking the box for “All Day” means no time will be listed.  (This is useful if the time is unknown.  You can always update the post later and specify a time.)
  6. For repeating gigs (weekly appearances at Capt. Bill’s, Market Street, etc.) you can click the + button multiple times to attach several events to a single article.
  7. Having entered the event details, the category “Gig” should now be checked.  Verify this.
  8. Click Publish.

Add an article to be posted on the main page. New articles will appear beneath the main “The Aces” article. They will be bumped down the page as new articles are posted. As the page fills up, old articles will automatically be archived away.

  1. Log in to http://aces.danallan.com/wp-admin
  2. Go to Posts > Add New.
  3. Enter a headline and type the article.
  4. Verify that the category “Uncategorized” is checked.
  5. Click Publish.

Edit the pages (About, Booking, etc…). Pages, unlike posts, are more permanent sections – stuff that doesn’t change very often.

  1. Log in to http://aces.danallan.com/wp-admin
  2. Go to Pages > Edit.
  3. You will see a list of existing pages.  Click on the title of the page you want to edit.
  4. Make any changes, and click Update Page.
  5. To create a new page go to Pages > Add New.  Enter a title and the content, and click Publish.  A new heading will appear on the website to link to your new page.

Add photos to the Gallery page. You can any pictures to any post or page.  (Click the first little icon after Upload/Insert above the editing window.)  Normally, these pictures are inserted and placed one at time.  The Gallery page is special because any picture that is uploaded through it is automatically displaced in a nice array, ala Facebook.

  1. Log in to http://aces.danallan.com/wp-admin
  2. Go to Pages > Edit.
  3. Click on “Gallery” from the list of page titles.
  4. Click the first icon after the words Upload/Insert above the editing window.
  5. A new window appears.  Click Select Files.  You can upload multiple files as once, but don’t select more than a few at a time.  (Doing them one at a time also works, of course.)
  6. When done, scroll to the bottom and click Save All Changes.  Then click X (top-right) to close the image uploader.
  7. Click Update Page.
